Wigwam fan: Kate Moss has pitched 15ft wigwams in her garden and the neighbours have complained they are an eyesore

Kate Moss is embroiled in a row over two Native American-style teepees erected in the back garden of her £2million country home.

The 15ft tall conical tents have been pitched behind the supermodel’s 17th Century house in Oxfordshire all summer.

But residents of a nearby hamlet have complained to the local planning authority, claiming they are an eyesore that blocks their views.

Now, West Oxfordshire District Council officials have promised to launch an investigation.

Miss Moss is believed to have bought the teepees after attending the Cornbury Music Festival, near Witney, this summer.

Designer teepees, costing up to £4,000 each, have been a must-have accessory for celebrities since Jade Jagger set up one in the grounds of her Ibiza villa, complete with a disco ball and Moroccan carpets, for a party that was attended by Miss Moss and a group of friends.

Last year, the Croydon model’s ex-boyfriend, Pete Doherty, was said to have asked artist Tracey Emin to design a special teepee for them to use at the Glastonbury Festival – he named it the Loveshack.

The matter of Miss Moss’s teepees was first raised by a councillor at the Lowlands area planning committee.

Then, last week, at least one formal complaint was lodged with the planning authority.

Planning officer Kim Smith said: ‘We have had an email complaining about the teepees and asking if they require permission.

'Our investigating officer will visit as soon as possible to establish exactly what the situation is.

'I really don’t know the answer at this stage because there are many variables.

'It is perfectly legal, for example, to put up a marquee in your back garden for a wedding.’

Ms Smith said she could not identify who made the complaint but it is understood some of the residents are annoyed that the teepees obscure their view of the Cotswolds hills.

It is not the first time that Miss Moss has upset the locals.

They were horrified earlier this year when she was reported to be considering opening a version of her favourite London pub – The Hawley Arms in Camden. And two years ago she faced a lifetime ban from another local pub, The Swan at Southrop, when she failed to show up after booking lunch for 35 people.

She was said to have warded off the ban by popping an apologetic cheque for £1,750 through the pub’s letterbox.
