Kate Moss is checking into an American clinic after reports of her cocaine abuse threatened to destroy the model's career.

Friends say Moss, 31, has flown to Phoenix, Arizona, where she will spend 30 days in "medical treatment and therapy" at the Meadows Clinic.

The £2,250-a-night retreat has been used by models, comedians and pop stars with drug, drink and psychological problems.

Since the cocaine use revelations Moss has lost modelling contracts with Burberry, Chanel and H&M.

Meanwhile, Moss is said to be 'absolutely devastated' by her cocaine scandal and may quit Britain.

Her agent Sarah Doukas, boss of model agency Storm, said: 'Kate loves England but I'm sure she's concerned about living here.'

Miss Doukas said she was 'mortified' when she saw pictures of 31-year-old Moss allegedly snorting drugs with ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty. Asked if the model would go into rehab, she added: 'She will do what she has to.'
