In her white trousers and red top, June Sarpong perfectly complements the Holland Park flowerbeds. Her trousers won't stay white much longer, though, as June is rummaging around in the flowerbeds for the Frisbee the photographer keeps throwing at her. There have been a lot of girlie misses.

The 25-year-old Channel 4 presenter - best known for coaxing a blurry-eyed population through their Sunday-morning hangovers on T4 - came to Holland Park on her first date with David Lammy, youngest MP in Westminster and rising Blairite star. 'It's one of the reasons I like it here. He suggested we took a walk through the park before dinner at Julie's. I was like, "Oh my God! How romantic!"'

Holland Park, with its nooks and crannies, is London's most romantic park and the setting of many a wedding photo-op. June comes here all the time - she lives in nearby Earl's Court - to sit, read and watch the peacocks. She's disappointed that they appear to be in hiding today.

A self-confessed 'park girl' from Walthamstow, she remembers family trips to Valentine's Park in Ilford. Then, during that in-between age when you can't get into pubs and clubs, she'd hang out there with her mates. 'These days, I'm in Holland Park all the time when the weather's good. And I'm soon going to start doing some writing here.' June has enrolled in a creative-writing course at Goldsmiths. She would ideally like to write sitcoms like Sex and the City and Linda Green.

Failing that, her ambition is to become the British Oprah. June's still disappointed by the lack of peacocks as we stroll out of the park, but then we spot a very different, if slightly less loved, Holland Park institution: a ruddy-faced Michael Winner talking to a much younger woman.
