Actress Julia Roberts yesterday gave birth to twins - a boy and a girl called Phinnaeus Walter and Hazel Patricia - five weeks prematurely in a Los Angeles hospital.

'They're doing great,' said Roberts' publicist, but declined to release the babies' weights.

The 37-year-old star, who won an Oscar for her role in Erin Brockovich, married cameraman Danny Moder, 35, two years ago. Last month, Roberts was taken to the hospital after early contractions.
