As a way of showing their marriage was not in crisis, it was certainly an Oscar-worthy performance.

Taking a boat trip round the Caribbean island where they are holidaying, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston seemed keen to show they are still very much in love.

The two actors went out of their way to kiss, cuddle and hug at every available opportunity.

Their marriage of nearly five years has been under tremendous strain, with rows over when to have a baby. Only two weeks ago, Miss Aniston was seen Christmas shopping without her wedding ring.

But a fellow holidaymaker on the exotic island of Anguilla said yesterday: 'They seemed pretty happy and relaxed, despite what everyone has been saying about them. They

looked almost like newlyweds, they could not stop kissing and touching each other.'

Pitt, 41, and his 35-year-old wife were pictured on a boat trip to the small island of Scilly Bay. And the Troy star was quick to put a protective arm around his smiling wife as they admired the view.

Rumours that all was not well in their marriage surfaced last May when Pitt was seen holding hands with Angelina Jolie on the set of their movie Mr And Mrs Smith.

It is also thought that the couple are divided in their desire for children - Pitt is keen to start a family while Miss Aniston wishes to concentrate on her movie career.

Last month, Pitt almost broke down in tears on an American TV show when he talked of having children, saying: 'I'm going to say it - kids, family, I am thinking family.

'Yes, I have got family on the mind. Jen and I have been working something out. Little girls, they just crush me - they break my heart.'

He also admitted that the couple had found that no marriage was really fairy tale, saying: 'Nothing is ever what it seems, is it? I hate the notion of fairy tales, anyway.

'No one can live up to such a thing. Marriage is tough. It's not easy.'

Two weeks ago, the couple hastily cancelled plans to celebrate Pitt's birthday in London, flying separately back to America.

And Miss Aniston was then spotted without her wedding ring as she shopped in Los Angeles.
