Cherry Jam in Notting Hill is one of the freshest venues in the capital and I've agonised for weeks over which night to feature on these pages. It's hard because the venue, owned by Ben Watt (above) from Everything But The Girl, has something special going on every night which we've not seen from one venue in the capital since the Gardening Club in 1993.

Well, Cherry Jam is a world away from that venue, a plush, modern space that takes on board everything that sophisticated night owls demand. I've selected One Starry Night because Watt is joined by Chicago's Mark Grant, a talent who you wish would visit London more often. Grant is famed for his work on the Cajual and Guidance labels and his new mix album on San Francisco's Om imprint. As Watt says, 'It's an honour to have him here.' On Saturday, Grant opens, followed by Watt and then the pair spin back-to-back. What a prospect.
