Though the World Cup is highly anticipated for many sports fans, television fans may be less than impressed, as many of their favourite shows may not be available in order to accommodate the scheduling.

All football matches will be split between BBC One and ITV1, which will have a knock-on effect on many other television shows.

This could include some shows being moved back, moving channels, or even cancelled to accommodate this.

Shows said to be affected by the World Cup scheduling include Lorraine, This Morning, The One Show, Coronation Street, and Emmerdale.

The Lorraine Show and This Morning on ITV

Both Lorraine and This Morning will both be off ITV’s schedules in the coming days to accommodate the upcoming football matches.

On Tuesday, November 22, Wednesday, November 23, and Thursday, November 24, the usual morning schedules will be altered.

Coverage from Qatar will begin at 9 am till 12.30 pm, followed by Loose Women in its usual position.

Many World Cup matches will take place in the morning, therefore, regular morning shows like Lorraine and This Morning will be cancelled.

Fortunately, Friday, November 25 will see the Lorraine Show and This Morning back on television screens again when the morning match will air on BBC instead.

Additionally, there are no early football matches scheduled for next week and, therefore, The Lorraine Show and This Morning will air.

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here

I’m A Celebrity will clash with some games, as the show is normally aired at 9 pm on ITV. However, as some matches start at 7 pm, the reality show will sometimes begin slightly later, at 9.15 pm, on Friday and Saturday.

Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing will be unaffected during the group stages of the World Cup. However, during the semi-finals of the World Cup, the Strictly quarterfinal will move to Friday, December 2 at 8 pm.

As more of the later-stage matches will be taking place on Saturdays and Sundays, there could be more rescheduling for Strictly coming up.

The Chase and Tipping Point

Two ITV quiz shows will also be affected by the World Cup over the next couple of weeks.

The Chase and Tipping Point will experience a few scheduling changes, as many games will be on at the same time.

While ITV airs World Cup games in the afternoon, The Chase and Tipping Point won’t air again until November 30.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street

Neither Emmerdale nor Coronation Street will air on Friday, November 25.

Earlier this week, Emmerdale ran hour-long episodes to make up for the missed episodes.

Bargain Hunt and Doctors

BBC’s Bargain Hunt and Doctors will also be cancelled when there is an afternoon football game scheduled.
