While the rest of the world is consumed with sunbeds and fake tan, La Toya Jackson and Eddie Murphy both appear to be lightening their skin tones.

In La Toya's case, she might be suffering from the same mysterious skin condition that has lightened the pigment of brother Michael.

Both Jackos are obsessed with their looks - and it's no secret that plastic surgeons have been hard at work over the years.

As for Eddie, he has simply put on make-up for a new movie role. We first thought he might have been going to elaborate lengths to hide from former lover Mel Brown.

But the radical image change is for his Norbit, a comedy in which he plays a range of characters, including an oriental restaurant manager Mr Wong.
