When it comes to injecting glamour into being green it doesn't hurt to have a bit of Vanity.

Ditching the corduroy jacket and lentil casserole look, four of the biggest names in America have shown how to do eco-fighting A-list style.

Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Al Gore and Robert F Kennedy Jr have been dubbed 'the Green Team' after becoming eco pin-ups for glossy magazine Vanity Fair.

Launching the magazine's first-ever Green Issue, editor Graydon Carter said he hoped the pictures of the group would appeal to the sophisticated and trendy.

Julia Roberts said she had gone green for the sake of her children, George Clooney now drives a zero emissions electric car, Al Gore has made a documentary about climate change while Robert F Kennedy Jr hosts a weekly radio programme about environmental issues.
