Britney Spears has hit a new fashion low.

In a clear sign the pop singer is in desperate need of help - from a stylist - she stepped out in a flesh-baring outfit that showed little regard for conventions of good taste.

Spears wore incredibly low-slung jeans, which revealed a pink crucifix tattooed on her pelvis, teamed with a completely see-through plum top.

Sheer madness: Britney hit the clubs in a see-through top and low-rise jeans

The singer stayed out partying until the early hours of the morning

Spears, who is notorious for leaving her lingerie at home, was this time wearing a bold printed bra, and wanted everyone to know about it.

The singer has regained her svelte form in recent times through diet and almost daily vigorous dance training, and was keen to put her hard work on display.

The mother-of-two flashed her buff midriff, complete with belly button bling.

Spears first made a stop at exclusive Hollywood restaurant Dominick's, before moving on to nightclub Les Deux, where she stayed till almost 3am.

Also at the club that night - recently single Ryan Phillippe, who left just minutes before the star.

Spears covered her two inch long hair a wig reminiscent of the ultra blonde locks she sported during the peak of her career.

The star has been working to regain her former glory, and has started work on an album, set to be her first full record of new material in almost three years.

Spears has just posted a message to her fans via her website, thanking them for supporting her through difficult times.

She wrote: "I am so blessed that you care enough about me to be concerned and will continue to live in this brighter state with all of you by my side during this trying time."

"We are all the lights of the world and we all need to continually inspire others and look to the higher power."

She signed off: "You are all in my prayers. Godspeed."

The singer spent a month in rehab earlier this year after shaving her head and allegedly attacking a paparazzo's car with an umbrella.
