It's the Hollywood auction where you can pick up a grrr-eat Christmas gift.

More than 900 pieces of Hollywood memorabilia worth £1.7million are going under the hammer in a Christmas Internet auction.

Included in the huge sale is the iconic Cowardly Lion costume, worn by Bert Lahr in the 1939 Judy Garland classic The Wizard Of Oz.

The costume, which is made out of a real lion skin, is considered one of the most important in movie history. Last April, Garland's blue gingham dress, which she wore when she played Dorothy in the children's film, sold for £140,000 in London.

The lion costume is expected to fetch between £200,000 and £300,000.

International auction house Profiles In History will hold the live public sale on eBay on December 14 and 15.

"The lion costume stands alone as the single ost important film costume in the world," said auction spokesman Lorna Hart.

"It is the sole character costume available to collectors because the Tin Man was destroyed and the Scarecrow is housed in the Smithsonian Museum."

Among the other items for sale is Elvis Presley's diamond and platinum wedding ring, from his marriage to Priscilla in Las Vegas in 1967.

It is expected to fetch between £50,000 and £75,000.

You can also bid for James Dean's flick-knife from Rebel Without A Cause, which is Likely to sell for about £25,000.

Star Wars fans can bid for the domed head of R2D2, which is expected to fetch up to £75,000.

Other highlights include Arnold Schwarzenegger's leather biker jacket from Terminator, with a price of about £6,000.

Robert Shaw's chair from the boat in Jaws would also make an interesting present for about £4,000.
