Taxi drivers and grannies beware — hundreds of skaters are taking to the streets during the annual LondonSkate season.

Participants meet at Hyde Park corner each Friday night (weather permitting!) for an evening of roller-blading fun.

The weekly skate takes a different route through London each week and is policed by marshalls who are expert skaters.

Participants are advised to wear helmets, protective pads, bright clothing and must, of course, remember to bring their own skates.

Everyone is welcome to join in, though under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Best of all, it’s completely free!

LondonSkate begins every Friday at 8pm at Hyde Park Corner, near Aspley House. For weekly skate route information, text londonskate to 83248. There's a charge of 25p and you'll get a text back telling you whether the skate is on or off. Check www.londonskate.com for routes.
