Pop star George Michael will not face any charges over claims that he collided with three parked cars in north London while behind the wheel of his Range Rover and then drove off without informing the owners

Police interviewed the singer under caution about the collision in Highgate on Easter Sunday.

A representative of the 42-year-old singer reported the accident to officers a day after it took place.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The traffic file has now been looked at and no further action will be taken by police."

The singer appeared on chatshow Parkinson after the incident and rubbished claims that he had driven off before contacting police to admit responsibility.

It was the second time in two months that the singer was questioned by police.

In February, police arrested him on suspicion of possessing drugs after he was found slumped at the wheel of a car at Hyde Park Corner in central London.

He was later cautioned for possessing cannabis.

In a statement, Michael said the arrest was "my own stupid fault as usual".

The former Wham! idol's greatest hits tour will kick off in Madrid on September 27 and will reach the UK in November. It is his first tour in 15 years.
