Veteran broadcaster Anna Ford has taken a job at Sainsbury's, less than a week after reading the BBC lunchtime news for the last time.

The 62-year-old has been appointed as a non-executive director to improve its 'social and environmental image'.

Ms Ford, who began her BBC career in 1976, said: 'I'm interested in food quality and innovation.'
