Father wins probe into police investigation of Barrymore 'pool death'

An inquiry is to be carried out into the police investigation into the death of a butcher whose body was found in Michael Barrymore's swimming pool, a watchdog said today.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it had decided to investigate aspects of the investigation after receiving complaints from the family of the dead man, 31-year-old Stuart Lubbock.

Tony Bennett, the Lubbock family solicitor, said he had complained about information Essex Police gave to a coroner and pathologist following Mr Lubbock's death.

He said Mr Lubbock's family had made serious allegations about police officers.
