Ed Sheeran made a New York singer’s day by joining him for an impromptu duet of his hit song Eyes Closed.

In a clip shared to Instagram, the look on 62-year-old Mike Yung’s face when he realised one of the biggest stars on the planet was singing along with him is priceless.

Yung went viral in 2016 with a video of him singing The Righteous Brothers’ Unchained Melody in a New York City subway station, which lead to him appearing on America’s Got Talent and releasing a studio album in 2018.

He was filming a video at the Church Street subway station in Brooklyn on Monday, singing Sheeran’s latest single, when the 32-year-old suddenly surprised him.

Yung told him afterwards that it had “made my day,” but the surprises didn’t stop there.

Asking if he could show him something, Sheeran then presented him with tickets to his gig at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn where he performed his new album Subtract in full for the first time in America.

Yung took to Instagram on Tuesday to share details of the encounter along with a photo of the tickets he was given and a snap of the marquee featuring Sheeran’s sold-out show.

He also shared a video from his seat of Sheeran singing Eyes Closed, with the audience watching in silence, unlike most major stadium shows.

“Thanks for the tickets bro, the show was amazing,” he captioned his post along with a fire emoji.
