Evidence by the author of the Da Vinci Code should be treated with deep suspicion, a prosecution lawyer said yesterday.

'Dan Brown had almost no recollection of matters that related to timing,' said Jonathan Rayner James.

'He'd struggle to recall a year, was rarely able to recall a month.'

In his closing argument, he admitted Brown may have breached copyright laws unknowingly because of research materials supplied by his wife. Two authors accuse Brown of copying their books
