Seventies crooner Tony Christie and comic Peter Kay shocked pop pundits by holding on to the top spot in the new combined download and singles chart

Their Comic Relief remake of the 1971 kitsch classic, (Is This The Way to) Amarillo, has remained at number one for six weeks now.

Way Down, the latest release from Elvis, failed to dent the duos grip at the top and entered the chart at number two yesterday.

Dance two-some Bodyrockers' latest release I Like The Way debuted one place below while rapper-turned-actor Will Smith moved up a slot to number four with Switch.

Razorlight with Somewhere Else fell three to number five while 1 2 Step from RnB star Ciara, featuring Missy Elliott, also dropped three places to number six.

Industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails debuted at number seven with The Hand That Feeds.

Another new entry one place below was Jerk It Out by Swedish indie-band Caesars.

RnB star Mario's release, Let Me Love You, fell three to nine and US rapper 50 Cent's Candy Shop also dropped three to 10.

In the album charts, Trouble, the debut CD from singer, songwriter and producer Akon, moved up one to the top spot.

Renewed sales for the RnB star's release pushed Basement Jaxx's singles collection into second place while Tony Christie's greatest hits remained stuck one place below.
