Cheryl Cole's status as the nation's celebrity queen was cemented after being crowned Woman of the Year at a glitzy event.

The TV and singing star, 26, scooped the Glamour magazine award for the 12 months during which she finally ditched footballer husband Ashley Cole and has rarely been out of the news.

"Four or five years ago I'd never dreamt I'd be here amongst so may glamorous women. One person I definitely have to thank is my dentist. So thank you very much."
