Zoolander 2 trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch plays androgynous model in first look at comedy sequel

Benedict Cumberbatch is nearly unrecognisable in the new trailer for Zoolander 2.

The British star plays an androgynous model in the forthcoming comedy sequel, complete with flowing locks and a brand new pout.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, who play aging models Derek Zoolander and Hansel, question the character’s gender in a clip of the new film.

The brand new trailer, which was released on Wednesday, shows a roll-call of cameos from famous faces.

Penelope Cruz plays a secret agent who enlisted the models to help find out who is killing the world’s most beautiful people.

These include stars Justin Bieber, Usher and Miley Cyrus, who have all been ‘assassinated’.

Original cast members including Will Ferrell, Christine Taylor and Billy Zane return for the new film, while other newcomers include Kristen Wiig and Kanye West.

According to Stiller, the new film has been in the work for more than seven years and will be released 15 years after the original.

Zoolander 2 is slated for release on February 12 2016.
