Former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott has spoken out about boyfriend Adam Collard’s disagreement with Ferne McCann at the National Television Awards after-party.

It was reported that Collard, 22, exchanged words with ex-TOWIE star McCann, who is alleged to have then ‘thrown a glass of wine’ at the ex-Love Islander.

Earlier today, The Sun reported that McCann had allegedly told other reality stars to avoid the couple, prompting Collard to tell her: “You’re a mum, stop bullying Zara.”

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed that Collard contacted them shortly after, stating: “An allegation of common assault was made to police by a man, aged in his 20s, following an incident with a woman, also aged in her 20s, at the O2 Arena on Tuesday, 22 January.”

They revealed that “no one was injured during the incident” and “there has been no arrest.”

McDermott commented on the row in a now-deleted Instagram Story post, in which she shared a screenshot of critical Twitter messages and wrote: “Getting sent tweets like this.”

“Imagine someone threw alcohol in your eyes… what would you do??” she continued. “If you had done nothing wrong and you simply stood up for someone who was being bullied?”

“All I’m saying is… if it were to be the other way round and he launched a glass at her face, it would be a completely different story, #doublestandards.”

“You can’t go around launching cups at people’s heads and think it’s OK,” she concluded.

A source told The Sun that “bad blood” emerged between the reality stars “because Ferne got together with [Love Island contestan] Charlie Brake just weeks after splitting with Zara’s mate Ellie Brown.”

Standard Online has contacted representatives for Collard, McDermott and McCann for comment.
