Zach Galifianakis has revealed he wished he had only made one Hangover film.

The actor, 46, starred as wolf pack member Alan in the comedy trilogy alongside Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha.

Speaking to Marc Maron for his WTF podcast about whether there are more films in the pipeline, he replied: "We're contracted up to 12 [films]. I feel a real appetite out there for more.

"Look, that was a good chunk of my life that I do not regret at all but I wished we had just done one.

"I think leave well enough alone sometimes."

The actor did joke that he may reprise the role if his career takes a turn for the worse.

“I mean, in ten years when all this dries up I’m sure I’ll be knocking on people’s doors, ‘Hey, I got this idea…look, I’m still weird!’" he said.

The Hangover grossed $467 million worldwide on it's release in 2009 and was followed by the Hangover Part II in 2011 and The Hangover Part III in 2013.
