Super model Yasmin Le Bon has opened up about her "running battle" with depression.

Le Bon, 50 said she has to work hard every day to stay in control of it.

Speaking to Red magazine during a photoshoot with her three daughters Amber, 25, Saffron, 23, and Tallulah, 20, for the first time in 14 years, she said: "I have had real depression. It’s a running battle every day and I’ve worked very hard at it. I'm in control of it but it’s there all the time.

"I haven’t [taken medication] but I would if I felt myself really on the edge and needed extra help."

Le Bon has been married to Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon for 30 years and says the secret to their longevity is spending lots of time apart.

"I’m sure the reason we’ve been married so long is that we’ve spent huge amounts of time apart," she said. "I couldn’t possibly have been that young and lived in someone’s pocket. I would have murdered him."

Describing him as "completely bonkers" and "demanding of time and energy - in a charming way", she said: "He's inherently very funny, which is lucky, because if he wasn’t funny, you’d want to batter him. We laugh hysterically all day. It’s the singularly most important thing I can think of in my life."

But it's not just her husband that Le Bon shares her family home with. Alongside Simon there are their three daughters plus Saffron’s boyfriend, Tallulah’s best friend and Yasmin’s niece.

“It’s a noisy household," she said. "At the moment, we’re eight adults, two cats and three dogs. Sometimes I think, this is like a shabby b&b, nobody pays and I can’t get on with my life. The house is always full. It is a struggle sometimes, but life isn’t perfect, is it? It’s complete and utter chaos.”

She said that enjoying a date night with Simon can be tough as the family are like "Siamese twins".

"These girls weren’t born thinking, ‘We’re going to wrap her around our little finger’," Le Bon said. "It’s my fault. I do worry sometimes that we’re all a bit like Siamese twins. God forbid Simon and I ever want to go out for dinner on our own. It happened the other night and Tallulah turned around and said, ‘What, without me?’"
