X Factor star Katie Waissel engaged to US model

Katie Waissel is engaged to US model Brad Alphonso.

The former X Factor star - who was renowned for her quirky behaviour on the 2010 series of the ITV talent show - and her new partner have had matching heart tattoos inscribed on their ring fingers, and she admits she "can't believe" she is set to wed after he proposed while she was in Los Angeles working on new music.

She wrote in a series of posts on twitter: "We're engaged!!!!! Just woken up with a huge smile on my face can't believe that we're engaged!!

"Making great music out here, got engaged to the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with,and have all you to share it with!so happy!(sic)"

Brad was also ecstatic, and the pair enjoyed a dinner with his friends to celebrate the development.

He wrote: "The best & only engagement dinner I will ever have with friends & my future mrs. Alphonso @katiewaissel24 .. #loveher.(sic)"

Katie became famous on the show after she regularly changed her style and look, with Dannii Minogue commenting she had no idea who she was because she kept on fashioning herself into different personalities.
