The first trailer for Spider-Man sequel Far From Home has finally been released.

The teaser clip for the anticipated sequel to 2017’s Homecoming sees Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker.

The film, which takes place after Avengers: End Game (set to arrive in cinemas on April 26), follows Parker as he embarks on a trip to Europe – which will include a stop-off in London – with a handful of school friends.

His plans to enjoy a little respite from saving the world from super-villains are soon scuppered when he agrees to help Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson, investigate the mystery of several elemental creature attacks which are wreaking havoc across the continent.

He’ll also attempt to grapple with his romantic feelings for MJ, played by Zendaya.

The new trailer also gave fans their first look at Jake Gyllenhaal in character as the enigmatic supervillain Mysterio, who appears to team up (at least temporarily) with Spider-Man and Fury as they take on the creatures.

Along with Zendaya, Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan), Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), Michael Keaton (Vulture) will all reprise their Marvel roles.

Jacob Batalon, Angourie Rice and Tony Revolori will also be back as Parker’s schoolmates.

Holland previously unveiled the much-loved superhero’s brand new suit on Jimmy Kimmel Live, revealing a sleek redesign which swaps the traditional blue and red colourway for black and red.

Marvel also released a new poster for the sequel, which shows the spider suit covered in travel stamps from European cities.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released in cinemas on July 5.
