Tom Daley baby name: Robert becomes bookies' favourite in honour of diver's late father
Tom Daley could name his baby Robert in honour of his late father.
Last week, the Olympic diver and his husband Dustin Lance Black announced that they are expecting their first child together.
The parents-to-be both shared snaps of their unborn child’s scan, alongside captions celebrating Valentine’s Day.
The name Robert is currently the favourite with bookies, with odds as short at 2/1 in favour of the newborn being named in memory.
Daley, 23, tragically lost his 40-year-old father in May 2011, after battling a brain tumour since 2006.
Other names in the running for a baby boy are James at 6/1, Oliver at 10/1, Richard at 20/1 and Chris at 25/1.
For a girl, Charlotte is the favourite at 10/1 with Emma and Georgia following behind at 16/1 and 33/1 respectively.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “These day's there is no shortage of betting markets, and interest in Tom Daley's news has provided yet another."
The couple, who tied the knot in May last year, are yet to share details of the pregnancy.
Daley and Black – who have a 20 year age gap – revealed their engagement with an announcement in The Times in October 2015.
They married at a private ceremony at The Bovey Castle Hotel on Dartmoor National Park in Devon in May 2017.
