Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga have reportedly split after eight years together.

The acting duo, who starred opposite one another in Preacher, are thought to have called time on their romance.

An insider told PageSix: "Their romance ran its course and the two are moving on", however, the pair intend to "remain friends after the break-up.”

They met while working together on the theatre production of Phedre in London nine years ago.

Negga, 36, previously told of how much she enjoyed working with Cooper, 39, in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

She said: “It can be so lonely filming, so it’s like your buddy and your back up. He’s got my back and I’ve got his. Very much so.”

Despite Negga celebrating having a “filming buddy” at the time, Cooper explained that their jobs together were simply “coincidental.”

He told The Times: “I met Ruth doing Phedre, She was brutally honest with me about my acting. Once she stopped halfway through rehearsal and said to [the director] Nick Hytner, ‘Is he actually going to do it like that?’”

“Then we continued to get lots of jobs together, completely coincidentally.”

Cooper added that he was “surprised” that he didn’t have “loads of kids”, compared to his friends who are a similar age.

He said: “Everyone does things at their own speed, but I’m always quite surprised that I don’t have loads of kids.

“There’s probably one last piece of the jigsaw [missing for me]. There’s definitely something that needs to shift.”
