The Wanted's Nathan Sykes won't be getting the best birthday gift tomorrow as he prepares for throat surgery to save his voice.
The soon to be 19-year-old discovered a haemorrhaging nodule on his vocal cord which needs to be removed right away.
Being a delicate procedure, Sykes will be out of action for a while as he will not be able to talk for up to a month let alone belt out a note.
The All Time Low hitmakers were hoping to record their next album in time for a world tour at the end of the year, but the boys: Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Max George and Tom Parker are now worried about their future.
A source told The Sun: "It's not good at all. Nathan has battled with throat issues for a while but this is far more serious.
"After the once-over by the specialist, he was instructed to have almost immediate surgery. Naturally Nathan is really worried as if it doesn't work, his career is over.
"The rest of the band are not only concerned about him but also about the group.
"It will be tricky to continue without him as vocals will have to be changed. All their worldwide commitments are having to be put on hold."
Besides the surgery, the hunky singer recently ended his relationship with girlfriend Dionne Bromfield, Amy Winehouse's goddaughter, but she insists the pair will always remain friends after their brief romance.
She said: "No we're not dating, not anything. Yeah, it is [hard dating in public eye] but you know, we're really good friends so there are no hard feelings at all."
