Chart stars The Wanted are on track for US success after their latest single has become a download and airplay hit.

The group are thought to be the first British boy band to make it into the top three on iTunes in the US with their single Glad You Came.

It comes just days after another British boy band One Direction had a US breakthrough when single What Makes You Beautiful entered the Billboard chart at 28, the highest debut by a UK act for 14 years.

The Wanted's track - a former UK number one - has now made it to number two on the iTunes download chart in the US has also been in the top ten airplay chart.

The band have also been booked to appear on Jay Leno's show.
