Taylor Swift makes surprise appearance at super fan's wedding

Taylor Swift joked she was a "third wheel" as she made a surprise appearance at a fan’s wedding.

Swift, 26, delighted New Jersey couple Max Singer and Kenya Smith when she arrived at their wedding and set about serenading them.

The singer played a stripped back version of her 2014 hit Blank Space before presenting the couple with a handmade card featuring the song lyrics "so it's gonna be forever".

The surprise appearance was set up by the groom’s sister who contacted Swift and explained how the couple had been allowed to legally marry in her mother’s hospital room shortly before she died, People reported.

Guests and family members shared videos of the special moment with one posting: “So Taylor swift showed up to my cousins wedding... #Surprised.”

Swift also shared images from the big day and joked that she was a “third wheel”.

She also took centre stage in a family photo, and captioned the shot: “Congratulations Max and Kenya!!”

Swift's surprise appearance comes days after she split from Calvin Harris.

The couple had been dating for 15 months before Harris reportedly called it off because they had become more like ‘friends than lovers’.

Swift isn't the first celebrity of late to make a surprise appearance at a family celebration.

Take That frontman Gary Barlow serenaded shocked super fan Jo Chapman at her 40th birthday bash in May with his hit Greatest Day.

The meeting came after Barlow promised to help some lucky fans celebrate milestone birthdays by calling on them to tell him why they believed they deserved the surprise.
