Fans have been introduced to the cast of Suicide Squad after Warner Bros. released the first official trailer for the DC Comic adaptation.

Set to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, the two and a half minute teaser follows the antihero team as they break out of prison and embark on a mission.

Margot Robbie’s "crazy" character Harley Quinn takes centre stage as she joins deadly marksman, Deadshot (Will Smith) and The Joker (Jared Leto) to do “something very bad that will get [them] killed”.

Other members of the group include Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) and Enchantress (Cara Delevingne).

The trailer sees gunfire and explosions as The Joker looks forward to showing off his "toys" and Quinn jokes that the voices in her head are telling her to kill everyone.

Directed by David Ayer, the film follows superhuman inmates who are used by a secret government agency to complete illegal tasks in exchange for freedom.

It is set in the same universe as the forthcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and is exected to feature an appearance from Ben Affleck's Batman.

Fans were treated to a first look at the film at last year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Speaking at the event, Ayer said: “All this good vs. evil s**t is played out. It’s time for a bad vs. evil.”

Suicide Squad is set for UK cinema release on August 5.
