Former Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has vowed to work with domestic violence charities after her ex-boyfriend was found guilty of assaulting her.

Jeremy McConnell was dealt the verdict at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court after assaulting Davis at her home in Rainhill, Merseyside, on March 10 in a cocaine-fuelled attack she said made her fear for her life.

Davis – who has a seven-month-old son, Caben-Albi, with the Irish model – said she is now ready to “rebuild her life.”

In a statement her representative said: “We are delighted with the decision in court today and are pleased that justice has been done – we await the decision on Friday and the appropriate sentencing.

“Stephanie and her family would like to thank everyone for their support throughout this process which has been stressful and has put them all under massive pressure.

“Stephanie would like to thank her family, friends and team around her who have stuck with her and helped her to begin to rebuild her life.”

Davis – who met McConnell on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016 – said she wants to dedicate her time to helping to prevent other women from suffering the same ordeal she did.

The statement finished: “Stephanie now wishes to work with domestic violence and abuse charities to raise awareness and stop what has happened to her happening to other women in the UK.”

Davis told the court that McConnell had “completely destroyed” her life. She recalled how McConnell had returned to her house “out of it” on cocaine at midnight on March 9 before grabbing her by the face and biting her on the arm.

Davis described how he left before later returning. She said she let him in the house as she feared he would smash her patio doors and said once inside he punched her to the side of the head and pushed her against the wall twice.

She told the court: “Every time I got up he got me by the face and threw me down forcefully.

“All I was thinking is how do I get Caben away. He could have killed him.”

She said McConnell, who she described as “psychotic”, left the house but returned again, this time snapping handles off the patio doors of the house to get in.

McConnell, of Swords, Dublin, pleaded guilty to criminal damage of Davis’ property at an earlier hearing.

Judge Wendy Lloyd adjourned sentencing until Friday and warned McConnell custody was a possibility.

He was bailed on the condition he does not contact Davis, her mother or her aunt.
