The official poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been released ahead of advanced ticket sales – with no sign of Luke Skywalker.

The famous jedi is notably absent, while Carrie Fisher makes her first appearance as Princess Leia alongside Chewbacca and Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

Prominence has been given to new characters Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, Finn, played by John Boyega and Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac.

A large Death Star looking object can be seen in the background, leading fans to speculate whether or not it is a new weapon.
