Spectre is on track for huge US box office success after making $5.3 million in first night previews.

The 24th instalment of the James Bond franchise is projected to make an impressive $75-80 million during its opening weekend.

Daniel Craig’s latest film, which has already smashed UK box office records, has had the widest release of any Bond film to date over in the States.

Despite having a stronger preview period that Skyfall, Spectre is expected to fall short of its predecessor’s box office success.

Skyfall is still the most successful Bond film of all time, which made $88 million when it opened in the US back in 2012.

Opening last week in the UK, Spectre has beaten previous Monday release record-holder Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which made £23.8 million during its first week back in 2004.

The film has also broken opening-day UK box office records, taking £6 million by Tuesday.

The entire 007 franchise has currently made more than $6.1 million worldwide, with Craig’s three films making close to 40% of that.
