Sir Michael Caine and Vin Diesel hit the red carpet together at the premiere of their new film The Last Witch Hunter.

The two A-list stars seemed in high spirits as they posed for pictures together outside the Empire cinema in Leicester Square on Monday night.

While British acting legend Caine, 82, chatted to the waiting crowd, American star Diesel seemed happy to play with a fiery sword to keep photographers amused.

The pair were joined by 28-year-old Scottish actress Rosie Leslie, who co-stars in the fantasy film.

Diesel’s Fast and the Furious co-star Gal Gadot, who is set to play Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, showed up at the premiere to support her friend.

Filming for the Breck Eisner-directed film was delayed when Diesel’s Fast and Furious co-star Paul Walker died back in 2013.

Speaking about the acting alongside Caine, Diesel, 48, said: “It was a case of waiting for the right film, and this project came up, and he was excited about playing the role of Dolan.

“The character he plays is my best and only friend, so there was something appropriate about that.”

He added: "It was a dream come true, really. I've been a fan of his for so long... I'm a lucky kid from New York."

Caine admitted that the pair bonded over their backgrounds, saying: “For us, it's very easy because we're both from very poor, working class backgrounds.

“He found out about me, because I was acting before him, and then he sort of became a fan.”

The Last Witch Hunter is set for UK release on October 21.
