Simon Cowell has said he is not interested in anything Zayn Malik has got to say.

Cowell, 55, hit out at the former One Direction singer who has criticised the band of late.

"I'm not interested in a single word he says," he told Yahoo.

But the music mogul said he is looking forward to Malik’s forthcoming solo material.

“I am interested in what he sings. I've heard [his music], it's good, he's going to do well," he said.

In December the X Factor judge criticised Malik for his negative comments about One Direction’s music.

"It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them," he said. "And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff."

Cowell also admitted to getting “emotional” after watching the video for One Direction’s final single, History.

“I just saw the video last night and, God, it makes you feel emotional," he said. When that drops you’re going to see another lease of life for that record.

“I did get emotional watching it.”
