Cult London band Kitty, Daisy & Lewis have spiced things up with their new album — recording it in a converted Indian restaurant in Camden.

The rock’n’roll trio, made up of Lewis Durham and his sisters Kitty and Daisy, bought the derelict building at an auction and transformed it into their own studio.

They revealed it was time to move into their own space after making their first two albums in a back room at their mother’s house nearby.

Kitty said: “It took quite some time — there was a lot of building work. It had been derelict for about 15 years and I don’t think anyone wanted to go near it as it was in such a state and full of junk.

“It was covered in pigeon shit, there were rats and even a stash of porn mags hidden up one of the chimneys.”

The studio is now filled with the vintage instruments and equipment that give the band their nostalgic sound.

The album, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis The Third, was produced by Mick Jones of The Clash. The band shunned computers or modern techniques in the recording process.

Lewis said: “It’s recorded the old-fashioned way — there’s no auto-tune or any of the editing effects you get in modern pop music.

“In our opinion, that’s how you should do it. If you can’t play in time, you shouldn’t be playing!”

The trio’s new single Baby Bye Bye is out next week, with Kitty, Daisy & Lewis The Third following in January.
