Selena Gomez and The Weeknd made their relationship official as they walked the red carpet together at the Met Gala 2017.

The pop star pair made their official debut as a couple at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art during Monday’s annual party, posing together for the first time.

After months of speculation about their romance, Gomez and the The Weeknd - real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye – put on an affectionate display as they kissed in front of the wall of cameras at the biggest fashion event of the year.

The couple held hands as they arrived, both looking understated in more traditional attire rather than opting for one of the more outlandish costumes.

Tesfaye’s ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid also attended the fashion event, having walked the red carpet with him the previous year.

Gomez and The Weekend have stayed tight-lipped about their romance over the last few months, despite being pictured out and about together on various occasions.

The pair have reportedly been dating since the end of January, shortly after Tesfaye’s split from Hadid at the end of last year.

Gomez, who wore a white embellished Coach gown, was joined on the red carpet by a host of stars including Katy Perry Madonna, Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian.

This year’s Met Gala honoured Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo, celebrating the last 35 years since her first ever solo show.
