The Scissor Sisters are cutting out - for the time being, anyway.

Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Babydaddy, Del Marquis and Randy Real closed their UK tour in London last night with the news that this would be their last gig for some time.

The American band celebrated its break from an 11-year career with an extended show at the Camden Roundhouse, including early hits such as Laura and Mary and ending with a rendition of Filthy/Gorgeious.

Ana thanked London fans, saying UK audiences were “The ones who got us first – and always get us best”.

The band has said the break is indefinite, although Jake reassured fans: “Don’t you worry – this isn’t the last you’ve heard of us.”
