Russell Brand has described the sacking of Katie Hopkins from LBC as a “small moral victory.”

The comedian and actor, who has had the controversial broadcaster on his XFM show in the past, has praised the radio station for cancelling her show.

“Trivial maybe in these difficult times but Haty Kopkins banishment is a small, moral victory if not a 'final solution',” he wrote on Friday afternoon.

Hopkins was axed from LBC on Friday, after she sparked an outcry over her comments following the Manchester terror attacks.

In a tweet, which has since been deleted, she called for a “final solution”, which appeared to echo the Nazi's Final Solution during the Holocaust.

Katie Hopkins joined LBC in April 2016 to host the two-hour Sunday show from 10-12am.

It followed other comments made in the wake of March's Westminster terror attack when Hopkins said: "And Ramadan has not yet begun. Without food these sods get nasty."

The announcement of her departure came on Friday morning, when LBC posted on Twitter: "LBC and Katie Hopkins have agreed that Katie will leave LBC effective immediately."

Brand gate-crashed Hopkins’ show last month when he stormed into the studio in a bid to bring her “back to humanity.”

She then repaid the favour by showing up at the recording of his XFM show a few weeks later.
