Actress Rose McGowan has criticised Ryan Gosling after he added his support to the growing number of women who have come forward accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

Gosling, 36, admitted to being “deeply disappointed” in himself for failing to not notice the alleged harassment and assault which he described as “emblematic of a systemic problem”.

In a Twitter statement he wrote: “I want to add my voice in support of the women who have had the courage to speak out against Harvey Weinstein.

“Like most people in Hollywood, I have worked with him and I’m deeply disappointed in myself for being so oblivious to these devastating experiences of sexual harassment and abuse.”

Gosling, who starred in 2010’s Weinstein produced film Blue Valentine, finished: “He is emblematic of a systemic problem. Men should stand with women and work together until there is real accountability and change.”

But he was later criticised by Rose McGowan – one of scores of women who have levelled allegations against the Hollywood producer – for failing to mention the names of the women who have come forward.

She tweeted: “You could at least do us the courtesy of saying our names.”

Her criticism comes days after she slated Ben Affleck’s statement and accused him of lying about being unaware of Weinstein’s behaviour.

Affleck said he has been left “saddened and angry” by the news, to which McGowan responded: “’GODDAMNIT! I TOLD HIM TO STOP DOING THAT’ you said that to my face. The press conf I was made to go to after assault. You lie.”

McGowan later had her Twitter account suspended and called on fans to “be her voice” during the ban.

Posting on Instagram she wrote: “TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE. #ROSEARMY.”

It is not clear which of McGowan’s tweets violated the rules.

The suspension sparked a protest as women worldwide vowed to boycott the microblogging site by using the hashtag #WomenBoycottTwitter in a show of solidarity with the Charmed actress.
