Roman Kemp broke down tears on Capital FM this morning while honouring his late friend and colleague Joe.

Kemp, 27, returned to Capital FM this morning after taking leave last week after Joe, the breakfast producer for Capital Breakfast, passed away “very suddenly”.

Alongside his co-hosts Sian Welby and Sonny Jay, Kemp paid an emotional tribute to his “brother”.

"We wanted to share some really sad news,” he told Capital Breakfast listeners.

"Last Tuesday, very suddenly, we lost one of our best friends. Our producer Joe, he was a member of the Capital Breakfast family.”

He revealed Joe had worked for Capital’s parent company Global Radio for nine years.

"He was the first person I met when I walked through the door. I remember thinking, who’s this guy, he was a bit of a Del Boy,” Kemp said through tears.

"He was with me right from my very first show. He taught me everything. I don’t know sitting in a radio studio without him. It’s really weird.

“Every huge A-lister that you ever hear on this show, they know who he is, everyone.”

Kemp then told listeners more about Joe's personality, saying he “couldn’t do enough for people”.

“He was the nicest guy that I know, hands down,” he said.

“He was kind, caring, loved dogs, he was obsessed with his daily step count. He never ironed his clothes. He loved his family so much - his dad Ivan, his mum Celia, his sister Lou. He loved his friends.

“But the thing that he loved most of all was doing this show, and he loved you, listening right now, he loved making you happy.”

Kemp concluded his emotional tribute by playing some highlights of Joe’s appearances on the show.
