Stacey Solomon posed in a bikini shoot in a bid to highlight the shocking effects of airbrushing on women’s bodies.

The TV personality, 28, posed for the photos as a way of protesting the unattainable standards young people aspire to.

In a spread for Celebrity Secrets magazine, the singer showed her body before and after Photoshop was used to “touch up” the image.

The first picture shows Solomon embracing her curvy figure, while the second sees the star with a trimmed down waist and flawless skin.

Talking about the images, Solomon said: "Children are robbed of their childhood because they’re under pressure to look a certain way.

"Even if you ask 100 teenagers if they think a picture has been edited, and they all say ‘yes’, they’ll still want to look like that – as that’s what they think ‘pretty’ is'.

"And that’s what we’ve got to eradicate.”

Another photo shows Solomon posing with her back to the camera, with her figure being seen as “slimmed down” in the touched-up version.

Social media users took to Twitter to hail Solomon a “role model” for young girls.

One user said: “Top marks to @StaceySolomon for being a great role model for our girls.”

Another posted: “@StaceySolomon is an incredible woman! The way she is showing what’s normal and not the media “normal” is inspiring!!”

Others declared her natural body “perfection” with one posting: “I love this Stacey Solomon is so beautiful and open about how she love her body naturally it's perfectly ok.”

The photos follow a range of Solomon’s campaigns against false perceptions of beauty.

In October the former X Factor contestant posted before and after pictures from a glamorous makeup shoot, showing her looking considerably more put together in the glammed version.

At the time, the star said: “So the next time you look at somebody in a magazine or on tv or just in you social news feeds and think 'God I wish I looked like that', just think of me and what I really look like underneath all of the sorcery!"
