Rita Ora scoops Best Female at Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards as Duran Duran honoured with Lifetime Achievement

Newly appointed X Factor judge Rita Ora was today honoured with the Best Female gong at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

Ora - who only just arrived back in the UK from America - told the audience that she did not have time to shower.

“I don't actually know what time it is,” she said. “I had a 40 minute delay on the plane.

“I literally haven't even showered. I'll have a shower afterwards on the plane.”

The Poison singer was among a host of artists who were honoured at the event which raise funds for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.

Eighties band Duran Duran were honoured with the Spotify Lifetime Achievement Award.

Consisting of Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor, the four piece took to the stage to accept the award from musician Mark Ronson.

Arctic Monkey's scooped the gong for Best Live Act and praised Nordoff Robbins charity work in a statement.

“It's a real honour to be chosen. Congratulations to Nordoff Robbins on their 40th birthday and for all the incredible work they do using music therapy to help people.”

Leicester four-piece Kasabian said they were “honoured” to be presented with the Best Band accolade.

“We’ve admired Nordoff Robbins work for some years now and are honoured to be receiving the Royal Albert Hall best band award at the O2 Silver Clef Lunch,” they said in a statement.

“As musicians, it means a lot to us to be recognised by a charity which does such great work using music to help people.”

Other winners included James Bay (Jack Daniels’ best newcomer), Jake Bugg (AEG Live best male), Mark Ronson (American Express innovation award), Primal Scream (Investec icon award), Iron Maiden (O2 Silver Clef award) and Il Divo (PPL classical award).

A host of celebrities took to the blue carpet outside the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane to celebrate the event's 40th anniversary ceremony including The Voice coach Sir Tom Jones who took time to meet and greet fans who had queued up to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.

He was joined by former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, presenter Gaby Roslin and Sir Patrick Stewart and his wife Sunny Ozell.

The event raised £740,000 for Nordoff Robbins and saw Duran Duran donate £12,000 for DJ lessons with Mark Ronson.
