The wild parties of Kate Moss and Sadie Frost in their Primrose Hill set heyday were notorious.

Now residents claim a new group of midweek revellers are keeping them awake all night.

Television presenter Matthew Wright, who has lived in the area for around 15 years, said that for much of that time he rarely heard anything.

But he claims that in recent months he has been kept awake numerous times by parties going on well into the early hours.

He said some parties have bouncers on the door, DJs and bars installed, and the organisers often do not get stopped because they hold the events when there is no council noise patrol.

Wright, who presents Channel 5’s show The Wright Stuff, said: “People have figured out that Camden council only have noise patrols on Friday and Saturday nights. They have figured out that on any other night they won’t get stopped.

“I think that they are in their late thirties, early forties, and have enormous amounts of money. It seems to be about showing off.”

He added: “I’ve been there [Primrose Hill] for nearly 15 years and there was one party that my neighbours had. I had never been kept up all night.

“My real beef is the lack of community spirit and the lack of a noise patrol seven days a week.”

He said particular problem areas are Regent’s Park Road and Fitzroy Road.

Writer and quilter Linda Seward claimed neighbours were being “tortured” by the parties.

She told the Ham And High newspaper: “I finally fell asleep in my son’s room at the front of the house with a pillow over my head, earplugs and a sleeping pill. It shouldn’t have to be this way.”

Camden council figures show there have been 95 noise complaints so far in Primrose Hill ward in 2014/15. There were 283 in total during 2013/14 and 306 the year before.

Jonathan Simpson, cabinet member for community safety, said: “Noise nuisance can be distressing for our residents and we deal with it when it is reported to us, within available resources.

“Our current noise service is under review to consider options to further enhance it, and we are looking at ways to provide an approved service to meet our residents’ concerns.

“In the meantime, we encourage people to report problems to us on 020 7974 4444 at any time.”
