Celebrities are not immune to the Pokémon Go craze.

Musicians, actors and Hollywood stars have been swept up by the hype and are tweeting their finds while playing the location-based game.

John Mayer has been splashing the cash in a bid to increase his Pokecoin stash, Steve Akoi claims he trundled through fields to find a Pokemon and Joe Jonas joked about planning a road trip to Area 51 to catch a character.

Others have been sharing screen grabs from the game including Mario Lopez who tweeted a picture of himself standing next to a Magikarp while Souljaboy posted a picture of Pikachu perched on his crystal encrusted watch.

Pokémon Go is a spin-off of the beloved Pokémon TV series. The game allows users to go out into the real world and catch and battle Pokemon.

Players flick Pokéballs at the screen to catch them, and can head to public spaces listed as Pokemon Gyms on the map to fight other trainers.

The app has had users running all over their neighbourhoods in a bid to 'catch them all' and has already overtaken Tinder in the number of downloads in the US.

The game has seen users perching outside one man's house and a holocaust museum after the buildings were listed as Pokemon Gyms.

There have been reports of players being lured to Pokestops and one user in Wyoming discovered a dead body in the Big Wind River while looking for characters.
