Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a deal with Amazon studios after her series Fleabag scooped six Emmy awards.

The actress, writer and producer, 34, will create and produce new television content for Amazon Studios that will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories.

Fleabag – her wildly successful series which started life as a one-woman show at the Soho Theatre before heading to the Fringe – was aired internationally by Amazon after originally premiering on the BBC.

Waller-Bridge said the deal “really feels like home” in a statement, adding: “I’m insanely excited to be continuing my relationship with Amazon. Working with the team on Fleabag was the creative partnership dreams are made of. I can’t wait to get going.”

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, added: “We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Phoebe at Amazon Studios! As evident in her great success at the Emmy Awards this week, she is clever, brilliant, generous and a virtuoso on multiple fronts including writing, acting and producing.

“Fleabag has been a gift to our Prime Video customers and we are excited for what comes next from this brilliant mind to dazzle and delight our global audience.”

The first season of Fleabag earned Waller-Bridge a BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme.

Both seasons of Fleabag aired on Amazon Prime Video in the US and elsewhere, after premiering on the BBC. They were also available to watch in the UK on Amazon Prime Video and iPlayer following their first run on the BBC.

The second season, released this Spring, earned six Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Waller-Bridge.

She was also brought on to the writing team of the latest Bond film, No Time to Die, which is expected to be released in April next year.
