'People say things on the internet they wouldn't have the courage to say to your face': Susanna Reid hits back at Twitter trolls after online abuse
Susanna Reid has hit back at trolls who send her messages of abuse on social media.
The Good Morning Britain presenter slammed the people who use Twitter to direct hate messages at her in a lengthy message on Friday.
Reid wrote: “Remember: people say things on the internet they wouldn't have the courage to say to your face.
“I have NEVER had anyone say - directly - anything as unkind as some of the stuff I get tweeted. And NOTHING in my professional life stops me from saying this.”
Followers immediately jumped to her defence and supported the star for speaking out.
Her tweets come hours after her co-star Piers Morgan “threatened” a troll who has been “very unpleasant” recently towards Reid.
The furious broadcaster wrote: “Hi @sidney_ridley, I've been tracking you for a while. Constantly setting up new fake accounts & mainly targeting & abusing Susanna in a very unpleasant way.
“I will find out who you are very soon & then we'll find out how 'tough' you really are. Enjoy your day. cc @TwitterUK.”
He then appealed to the network to come forward if they knew the identity of the person.
Earlier, Reid defended herself for quote tweeting the hateful comments, saying that she does it “so that anyone who might be thinking of doing the same knows my position on this”.
The mother-of-three added: “I can definitely ask people to be kinder on the internet regardless of what you think of anyone else I work with.”
