This is the moment Hollywood actor Paul Walker’s Porsche smashed into a tree and burst into flames, killing him and his friend.

The dramatic CCTV footage shows black smoke billowing from the wreckage in the seconds after the crash, followed by a fireball shooting into the sky.

Images also emerged of a friend of the 40-year-old Fast & Furious star running towards the wreckage only to be pulled back by a police officer. Minutes later more friends turned up at the scene in Valencia, near Los Angeles, desperately trying to put out the flames with fire extinguishers, before firefighters wrestled them away.

According to one friend Walker and the driver Roger Rodas, 38, took the Porsche Carrera GT car out to check for a suspected mechanical fault after it started stalling. The crash happened on Saturday after a fund-raising event for Philippines typhoon victims run by Walker’s charity foundation.
