Paul Chuckle has said "I'm back" and that late brother Barry “will always be with him” after taking a break following his sibling’s death.

The 70-year-old star, real name Paul Elliott, posted a photograph of himself alongside the touching message on Wednesday morning.

His older brother and Chucklevision co-star Barry passed away on August 5, aged 73, and was laid to rest in their hometown of Rotherham on August 17.

Since then, the surviving Chuckle brother had only posted three times on Twitter and had not shared any messages since August 19.

On Wednesday, 19 days after his brother's funeral, Paul wrote: “I’ve been away for a bit but I'm back now, I know Barry will always be with me in whatever I do.”

He has received a swathe of support following his Tweet.

One follower said: “You’ve got the whole nation behind you mate.”

While another said: “Sending lots of love your way, Paul.”

Paul responded with a “fist bump” emoji to the first and said “cheers mate” to the latter.

Others told the entertainer “good to have you back” and encouraged him to “keep smiling and making people laugh”.

He has since retweeted a message from charity Balls to Cancer and shared a picture seeming to poke fun at friend David Walliams.

Following Barry Chuckle’s death, his manager Phil Dale said he died at home “peacefully” with his family.

In a statement at the time, he said: "It is with great sadness that the family announce that Barry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Ann and all his family."

"The family would like to express their thanks to the many people who have been fans of the Chuckle Brothers and they know that they will share in part the great, great loss they feel."

Shortly after his loss, his brother Paul said: "I've not just lost my brother, I've lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend."

He also wrote on Twitter: "I have to carry on as I know Barry would want me to having always been so supportive of each other in both work and our personal lives."
